Spontaneity

Your wedding day is possibly the most planned out day of your life. Everything has to be perfect. You spend months, if not years, putting together every tiny detail: ceremony, flowers, catering, seating plans, speeches… just to name a few. But even with all the planning, sometimes things happen that you weren’t planning on – OR – you see an opportunity for a little spontaneity and you seize it!

Like, for example…

Our transportation plan on our wedding day was a little out of the ordinary. The car dealership where Rich worked lent us a luxury sedan for the day and my brother-in-law, Anthony, was our chauffeur. My dad and I rode to the church in that car.

After the ceremony, Laura – my sister & maid of honor, Rodney – Rich’s brother and best man, and the two of us, were riding to Grandma’s in that car. As we road by Short Sands, we were regretting the fact that we didn’t plan a photo session at the beach.

And then – I saw it, and yelled STOP!

We were driving by the York Animal Kingdom amusement park and I had a spur of the moment idea that I wanted us to take a picture on the carousel. The ride attendant allowed us to jump on, while Anthony snapped some photos. Families were looking on, some snapping pictures of their own. We were a spectacle.

I wished I had thought of this ahead or time and planned it – so that the photographer and the rest of the wedding party could be there, but at the same time, the spontaneity of it was magical.
